Avondale Virtual Innovation Academy logoWelcome to Avondale Virtual Innovation Academy (AVIA)…Avondale ESD’s online learning program serving students in 6th - 8th grades.  AVIA will provide students a flexible, rigorous educational experience that will allow them to:

  • Take ownership of their learning
  • Give them the tools that will elevate and support the whole student
  • Prepare students for a college, career and technologically diverse global world.

 

Instructional Model

  • Online, robust lessons
  • 6th - 8th grade general education and exceptional students only
  • Required access 5 days a week
  • Internet access is required
  • Enrolled in Avondale Virtual Innovation Academy (AVIA)
  • Attendance tracked (minimum minutes must be met quarterly to remain enrolled in online academy)
  • Avondale District teacher supporting assigned grade-level bands of students
  • Follow AESD pacing guides & assessment calendars
  • Qualifying families who wish to participate in free/reduced lunch will have the option to pick meals up from their home school
  • Benchmarks and state mandated tests require in-person testing
  • District issued Chromebook
  • Grades assigned and student feedback given
  • Social - emotional support
  • Accommodations and support services provided
  • Learning on student’s time with access to live teacher support, asynchronous instruction, small group and independent learning
  • Complete work/modules according to the given timelines
  • Participate in activities and events at school closest to residence
